This is the website for the research project of the National I+D+i ARTISTIC APPLICATIONS OF DIGITAL LASER CUTTING TECHNOLOGIES TO THE PRODUCTION OF CONTEMPORARY GRAPHIC WORK (PID2022-139931NB-I00), active between 2024 and the end of 2027.

Based on experimentation with various materials, software, and characteristics of images and vector designs, and their transfer to engraving plates using a digital laser cutting machine, the aim is to find new ways to conceive and produce relief and intaglio engraving plates, simplifying photogravure methods and opening new plastic possibilities for graphic expression.

Different uses of digital technologies are already integrated into the production of graphic work, generally in the form of digital prints. However, digital laser cutting technologies and the possibilities they offer for conceiving and producing engraving plates are only at the beginning of their scientific evaluation, making it necessary to obtain new elements to help formulate their processes, concepts, and associated specific language. Ultimately, the goal is to complete the scientific discourse through the experimentation and analysis of techniques and creative processes that may derive from this technological tool applied to artistic production, originally conceived for industrial and commercial use.
